What it is
ISO 37001:2025 is the second edition of the international standard for anti-bribery management systems, published February 2025 by Technical Committee ISO/TC 309 (Governance of organizations). It cancels and replaces ISO 37001:2016 and incorporates Amendment 1:2024. Main changes: (1) subclauses added on climate change and the importance of compliance culture; (2) conflicts of interest explicitly addressed; (3) the anti-bribery function concept clarified; (4) wording harmonised with other standards; (5) the latest ISO Harmonized Structure introduced. It addresses bribery in all its forms — public, private, domestic, and international.
Who needs it
Organisations of any size and sector where anti-bribery compliance is required or desired — particularly those operating in high-risk environments, government contracting, international trade, or sectors subject to the UK Bribery Act, FCPA, or similar legislation.
Benefits of certification
- Demonstrates commitment to ethical business practices

- Supports compliance with UK Bribery Act, FCPA, and UN Convention
- Builds trust with investors, partners, and regulators
- Can be used as evidence in legal proceedings as due diligence
Frequently asked questions
Common questions
Does ISO 37001 guarantee bribery will not occur?
No. ISO 37001 certification demonstrates that an organisation has implemented reasonable anti-bribery controls — it does not guarantee that bribery will never occur, but significantly reduces the risk.
