Questions about CAS certification
Is CAS an accredited certification body?
Yes. CAS is accredited by the Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC) as a management-systems certification body under schedule 012418 B, and is registered with the Egyptian Organization for Standardization (EOS) under number CB176.
Is a CAS certificate recognised internationally?
Yes. EGAC is a signatory to the IAF Multilateral Recognition Arrangement (MLA), so a certificate issued by CAS under EGAC accreditation is recognised as equivalent in every IAF MLA member country worldwide.
Which standards can CAS certify?
CAS offers 41 schemes: management systems such as ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 14001 (environment), ISO 45001 (occupational health & safety), ISO 50001 (energy) and ISO 22301 (business continuity); food-safety schemes including ISO 22000, FSSC 22000 and HACCP; social-compliance audits such as SEDEX/SMETA, WRAP and SA8000; plus Halal, Kosher and product certification.
What is the difference between an EGAC-accredited certificate and a “By CAS” certificate?
EGAC-accredited certificates (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 22000, 50001 and 22301) carry the EGAC mark — and, for the five IAF-MLA scopes, the IAF mark too. “By CAS” certificates are issued under CAS’s own competence for schemes not yet within an accreditation arrangement; they carry the CAS mark and never the EGAC or IAF marks, so accredited and non-accredited certifications stay clearly distinguishable.
On which standards does CAS operate?
Every CAS audit is run to ISO/IEC 17021-1:2015 — the international standard for bodies certifying management systems — together with the scheme-specific technical part (for example ISO/IEC 17021-3 for ISO 9001, ISO/TS 22003-1 for ISO 22000, and ISO 50003 for ISO 50001).
How do I verify a CAS certificate?
Enter the certificate number in the verifier on this page, or scan the QR code printed on the certificate. Accredited certificates are also listed on IAF CertSearch, the global database of accredited certifications.
How does the certification process work?
After you request a proposal, CAS issues a costed scheme of work. Certification then follows a two-stage audit by impartial, competent auditors under ISO/IEC 17021-1. An independent decision-maker reviews the audit file before the certificate, EOS letter and certification mark are issued.
Where does CAS operate?
CAS is headquartered in Cairo, Egypt, with offices in Amman (Jordan) and Bucciano (Italy), and active operations in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Morocco.
